Course info
Precision agriculture involves the new technologies borne of the information age with
a mature agricultural industry. It is an integrated crop management system that
attempts to match the kind and amount of inputs with the actual crop needs for small
areas within a farm field. This goal is not new, but new technologies now available
such as GPS, GIS, remote sensing, and sensor-based systems, to collect and analyse
data about soil, crops, weather, and other factors that influence crop growth and yield.
This data is then used to make more informed decisions about crop management,
resource allocation, and precision application of inputs.
